Round 4

My Halloween Pumpkin
First off, congratulations are in order to the Trinity Football team, again! Our boys beat LaGrange this past weekend and are now 7-0 for the season. See them play at home on Saturday, October 29 vs. Birmingham Southern.
Coming up this Wednesday, October 26 is the 2011 Fall Career Fair. It will be held in Mabee Dining Hall from 11am-3pm. This is a great opportunity for all students to explore a variety of internships and full time employment opportunities. Here are a few reminders: Dress in business attire. This means nice slacks and appropriate skirts. Bring your Tigercard so you can get into Mabee free of charge if you choose not to eat. Bring multiple copies of your resumes, so you don't run out in the middle of a conversation with a perspective employer. Encourage your friends to go! And lastly, enter to win a $100 Apple gift card prize drawing at the fair. You can check out a list of the attending employers in TigerJobs.
Do you aspire to become a lawyer? If so, attend the Pre-Law Career panel on Thursday, November 3 from 5:30-6:30pm in Lightner Tea Room (6th floor of Lightner dorm). The panel will consist of Trinity lawyer alumni and law professor Geary Reamey. Together they will give insight into the admissions process and answer questions about the law school experience. If you are interested, RSVP in the "Career Events"' section of TigerJobs. If you have further questions, e-mail Twyla Hough at though@trinity.edu.
Do you walk around campus and think, when will all of this construction be finished? Horray! The Al G. Hill Tennis Stadium and the Butch Newman Tennis Center are complete! Attend the dedication ceremony on Wednesday, October 26 at the Hill Stadium. A reception will immediately follow at the Newman Tennis Center, and this event is FREE and open to the public.

In the spirit of Halloween, check out what I learned to draw in class recently! The pumpkin image  at the top of the page was drawn using simple drawing tools in Microsoft Word. I am proud to call it my own!

Round 3!

First of all, many kudos to the Trinity Tiger football team! The Tigers are currently 5-0 against their most recent opponent, Sewanee, and they will take on Huntingdon this Saturday, October 15th at 1:30pm.

As for Alumni weekend, many events took place for both alums and current students. The festivities took place on October 7-9, and here were a few of the highlights: From 11:30-1:30, Saturday, October 9, the Alumni picnic took place at the William Knox Holt Conference Center, 106 Oakmont. There were burgers, hotdogs, beer, and live music from one of Trinity’s own alum. Following the picnic on Saturday, there was an all-Greek gathering on Prassel lawn from 12:30-1:30. Everyone was welcome to join this tailgate to catch up with friends and get ready for the football game. At halftime, there were inductions into the Athletic Hall of Fame and the annual golf cart parade. The winner of the Spirit award and $500 cash prize went to the Sigma Sorority. Congrats!

The evening of the 8th, there were various events for all Greek clubs and organizations, all at different times and locations. I encourage those interested to go to the Trinity website where there is a list of all the events on the home page. Although they have now passed, take a look at what all Trinity had to offer our alums!

Did you hear about the self-defense workshop? Better yet, did you participate?? This past Wednesday, the Alpha Chi Lambda sorority hosted the second annual self-defense workshop in effort to help women learn about defensive techniques. Not only was the event free, but it was taught by professionals. Be on the lookout next year if you missed this awesome workshop!

It’s that time of the year…Rush!!! Rush kick-off happens tomorrow, October 10th at 6pm on the IM field. If you are considering joining Trinity University’s Greek life, come check out all Trinity has to offer. There will be music and free pizza!

Lastly, I will leave you with an awesome internship opportunity. The National Baseball Hall of Fame has an internship available for summer 2012. If you are interested, go to Northrup 040 from 6:30-8pm on Monday, October 10th to learn more about this exciting opportunity. Please register with Career Services for this event.
Have a good week!
