Welcome back! I know it has been a couple of weeks, but rest assured that plenty is going on at Trinity as we are in full swing this fall. There are a few events coming up this next week. But first, here is a message from the President, Dr. Ahlburg: All students, faculty, and staff are welcome to visit him during Open Door hours this week, 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursday, September 29 and 9 to 10 a.m. Friday, September 30. This is a great opportunity to express directly to the man in charge any concerns, complaints, or compliments you may have! If you're interested, contact Claire Smith at ext. 8841 or by e-mail at csmith9@trinity.edu for an appointment. On Monday, September 26 check out the Career Panel: Human & Social Services from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the Woodlawn Room (upstairs Coates). If making a difference in people's lives by helping them means something to you, come to this panel to listen to professionals who do this every day. Human and social professions are very respectable career paths that often get overlooked by students who have a knack for helping others. Don't miss out on your opportunity to discover if this is the right path for you! Register for this event here and for more information or questions, contact Career Services at ext. 8321. Are you a progressive or want to become one? Also happening Monday, join the Trinity Progressives at 7 p.m. in the Storch Memorial Building (next to the Chapel) for a general meeting.  On Tuesday, September 27, check out a presentation by Dr. James V. Morrison, Stodghill Professor of Classics, Centre College titled, "Thucydides' History of the Peloponnesian War," at 11:20 a.m. in Chapman Auditorium. As most Trinity students already know, many professors offer extra credit in the form of attending a lecture, so this is an excellent opportunity to do just that if you aren't necessarily interested in classical studies. For more information, contact classical studies at ext. 7653. Two events are happening on Wednesday, September 28. First, there is a DisAbilities forum at 7 p.m. in the Waxahachie Room (upstairs Coates). Representatives from organizations that work with disabled students are reaching out to those interested in improving the communication breakdown often experienced by disabled students on campus. Together we can improve and prevent this from happening. Second, for those undergrads who want to get a head start on the graduate school admissions process, now is the perfect time. From 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the Woodlawn Room (upstairs Coates), address any questions and/or concerns you may have if you are considering graduate or professional school. Register  for this event and like always, contact Career Services for more information. Want to branch out and join another awesome club on campus? Chinese Culture Club (CCC) invites all students to join its first general meeting on Thursday, September 29 at 5:30 p.m. at Beze Underground (freshman quad). *BONUS* The meeting will be followed by dinner at a Chinese restaurant at 6 p.m., yumm! For more information, contact Junyi Wang at jwang2@trinity.edu.  And finally Friday rolls around, every student's favorite day of the week, with our first main stage performance of the year! Trinity Theatre presents Will Eno's Tragedy: a tragedy directed by Kyle Gillette. The play takes the form of a local TV newscast covering the fall of night, a night that may never end.  It is a hilarious satire with big questions about existence. All productions will be held in the Stieren Theater, Ruth Taylor Theater Building. Tickets: $10 regular, $8 faculty/staff/alumni/Senior, and $6 for students. The first showing happens on Friday at 8 p.m., followed by a show on Saturday, October 1 at 8 p.m., and Sunday, October 2 at 2:30 p.m. to finish out our week. More show dates to come! Lastly, a follow up- Trinity Football pulled off another impressive win against Millsaps this past weekend and now has a 4-0 record!! Note that this weekend, October 1, is our bye-week so there will NOT be a football game. The Tigers will be at home again October 8 to beat Sewanee. So ,that takes care of events for this week. Here We GO!

Getting involved at Trinity is easier than you think! There are ALWAYS cool events going on around campus that suit all types of interests and personalities. For starters, consistently check your T-mail to learn and receive updates about upcoming events.  For example, your best resource for a general listing of activities is your class newsletter. These newsletters are catered to your specific grade and the events that you will benefit from the most. From there, you will also receive emails from various people and organizations informing you of different occasions. Take for instance the upcoming Student Leadership Conference which takes place on Saturday, September 24th from 10pm to 3:30pm. This conference is ideal for those interested in learning how to become a leader in this competitive economy. Those who attend will learn about how to present yourself on the Internet and to future employers. Interested yet? If so,  check out their website here.  Then register online.  It only costs $8 to sign up and will include breakfast, an Alumni networking lunch, and the chance to win cool prizes! The deadline to register is September 29th, so do it today!  Also along the lines of career planning, AXA Advisors, LLC will be hosting an information session September 19th from 3-4pm in the Woodlawn Room (upstairs Coates) for students interested in possible career opportunities. AXA is a subsidiary of AXA Financial, Inc., that helps people build financially secure futures. This is an excellent company if you are interested in life insurance, annuities, mutual funds, or financial planning.  The forum will be lead by Vice President of AXA Advisors, Matthew Foxhall, and the following day, on-campus interviews will be conducted. To register and sign up for an interview, log on to TigerJobs. While you are there, submit your resume ASAP. And as always, if you have any career related questions, don't hesitate to visit the Career Services office or online. On a different note, it is football season, so come out and support your Trinity Tiger Football Team! Trinity currently has a winning record of 2-0 against their latest opponent Texas Lutheran University . Let's help make this winning streak continue by showing your support at games.
